Best & Flanagan is pleased to announce that the partnership has unanimously elected Daniel L. Grimsrud as its new Board Chair. Dan has practiced at Best & Flanagan since his graduation from law school in 2003, and has been closely involved in firm leadership for years, including as chair of the firm’s Business & Corporate Law section, professional development committee, lateral hiring partner, and a member of the firm’s executive and distribution committees.
“Dan is a Best & Flanagan lawyer through and through and there is no one better positioned to lead the firm,” said Sarah Crippen, the firm’s outgoing Managing Partner. “Dan is first and foremost committed to providing the highest caliber, comprehensive and customized client service and he cares deeply about the firm’s culture and its people. He has just the right combination of leadership skills, business prowess and humanity to lead the firm into its second century of serving our fantastic clients.”
In the spirit of collaboration and adherence to our commitment to client service, the partnership elected to evolve its leadership structure from an individual Managing Partner supported by an Executive Committee into a Board of Directors. Encouraging leadership involvement from colleagues with a diversity of experience and expertise is a core part of Best & Flanagan’s culture, and will help promote a better balance of an individual’s leadership responsibilities with the maintenance of an exceptional legal practice.
“Our firm wouldn’t be thriving going into year 99 if we hadn’t been blessed with great leadership along the way,” said Dan. “For the last thirteen years we’ve been led by two all-time B&Fers who have epitomized our firm culture. It’s a daunting task to follow Bob [Maher] and Sarah, but in the more than 20 years I’ve been at Best & Flanagan, I’ve never felt more optimistic about our position in the marketplace and the opportunities in front of us. That optimism reflects the quality of the people on Team B&F and our exceptional client base.”
While serving as Board Chair, Dan will continue to prioritize his corporate and M&A practice. Dan considers himself a professional puzzler and deploys a collaborative approach to help business owners and entrepreneurs solve the tricky puzzles they regularly face, whether that’s working through a leadership transition or navigating a once-in-a-lifetime transaction.
Joining Dan on the firm’s Board of Directors are Libby Davydov, Finance Chair; Dan Kaplan, Facilities and Technology Chair; Jennifer Lammers, Practice Management and Business Development Chair; and Joel Schroeder, Human Resources and Employee Relations Chair.
