Best & Flanagan Attorneys Appointed to Leadership Positions with the Federal Bar Association
On May 9, 2018, the Minnesota Chapter of the Federal Bar Association (FBA) elected new officers, directors and executive committee leaders for the 2018-2019 FBA year.
Amy Conners was re-elected as a co-chair of the Community Outreach Committee. The Community Outreach Committee seeks to promote the FBA’s mission — to strengthen the federal legal system, the administration of justice, and the rule of law — by engaging with community members, outside organizations, and schools through events, activities, and other programs. Events this year include Court Camp for Minneapolis high school students at the U.S. Courthouse – Minneapolis, partnerships with the Minnesota Hispanic Bar Association in bringing lawyers and judges into schools to discuss legal careers, and a partnership with the Bloomington Human Rights Commission and the Jewish Community Relations Council of Minnesota and the Dakotas, for an event honoring Judy Meisel’s life and work, her escape from the Stutthof concentration camp, and her participation in the ongoing investigation and prosecution of two surviving Nazi officers.
Joel Schroeder was elected as Co-Vice President of Membership and a member of the Board of Directors. The Membership Committee is responsible for developing and implementing the Chapter's annual membership recruitment and retention programs, engaging in membership outreach to new members with an increased focus on diversity and inclusion with respect to members from the affinity bars, public sector, in-house, and greater Minnesota communities, as well as updating the Chapter's Membership Plan. Schroeder currently serves as Co-Vice President of Legal Education and previously served as Co-Vice President of Monthly Meetings for the Chapter.
