On Monday, September 18, Martha Engel will be speaking at the 10th Annual Twin Cities Startup Week symposium conducted by The Beta Group. This year’s festival is themed “Zero to Global,” and will consider the communities of support and resources available to startups at every stage of growth while setting the tone for the next decade of expansion.
In the session “AI: Equity, Ethics and Abundance in the age of AI,” Martha and other industry leaders will explore the advent of artificial intelligence as an opportunity. The panel will discuss our current crossroads and how we can shape a future that ethically harnesses AI for equity and widespread abundance.
This discussion is part of a Partner Track Event, sponsored by Best & Flanagan, called the "Future of our Cities and Communities." This annual series of civic conversations was created by Smart North, a non-profit organization driving digital equity through a range of programs in 21st century skills for youth, adults, and small businesses. Martha was recently named to Smart North’s Advisory Board where she joins other thought leaders in the digital equity ecosystem, all with the goal of bettering the world through digital technology.
In her practice, Martha provides intellectual property and general counsel advice to companies of all sizes and in all phases from start ups to established companies in a variety of industries. With a practical approach guided by the business’s goals and objectives, she counsels clients on various legal issues and intellectual property, including clearing trademarks, drafting and prosecuting patent applications, obtaining and enforcing trademark rights, and conducting due diligence reviews regarding intellectual property in corporate transactions such as M&A. Martha is a frequent speaker on intellectual property topics and their intersections with other practice areas.
