Position Description
The Accounting Manager will lead the firm’s accounting and finance functions, in partnership with the firm’s finance partner, Board and other administrative managers. The ideal candidate has at least five years’ of accounting and finance experience in a professional services firm, has strong business acumen, and brings a collaborative approach to this position.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Accounting Manager will have primary responsibility and authority for leading the following functions:
Finance
Forecasting, budgeting, financial reporting, general ledger accounting, billing and collections, cash flow, banking relationships, tax planning and reporting, payroll, insurance programs and retirement plans and strategic financial planning. The Accounting Manager will supervise a team of two accounting specialists.
In addition, the Accounting Manager will be expected to engage with and contribute significantly to the following activities of the firm:
Human Resources
Salary administration, benefits administration, workers’ compensation, human resources information/data systems, job design, and resource allocation.
Practice Management
Support for the partnership and Board with respect to quality control, billing and collection functions, practice systems and other practice management functions.
Qualifications
Minimum 5 years’ experience in professional services accounting. Strong financial and organizational skills required. Effective communication and interpersonal skills required. Excellent problem-solver and team player. Must work effectively with other motivated professionals in a fast-paced environment.
Reporting
Day-to-day direction from and reporting to the finance partner, with responsibility to the Board.
